FREE GUIDE: 47 Questions to Ask Your Grandparents

All but one of my grandparents died before I was born. Grandma Catherine. She was always “Grandma” because she never competed with anyone else for the title. She’ll be “Grandma” my entire life.

And every time around this year, I’m consumed by thoughts of her. She made Thanksgiving dinner every year (until she couldn’t). She loved the holiday season. And one November, she passed away.

When she died, that whole generation that came before my parents passed away as well. I didn’t realize that at the time. When you’re a boy, when you’re young, you don’t have many questions about the past. About what life was like for someone who lived it longer than you. But as I grew older, I realized I had so many questions for Grandma. About love and loss, about work and raising a family.

I wish I had something from her that answered all the questions I have now but didn’t know to ask then.

That’s why we made this free downloadable guide47 Questions to Ask Your Grandparents. It’s a bundle of the most popular questions the staff, friends, and families of Planning Daisies wish our grandparents answered for us.

If you’re a grandparent, then download the guide, answer the questions, and present those answers as a gift for your grandkids.

If you have kids or are thinking of starting a family, ask your parents to answer these questions for the future. Let them know how important their legacy is to the family.

The wisdom we hold often dies with us. But it doesn’t have to. If we plan to ask our loved ones about their lives or to pass along our learning to another generation — we live on much longer than a lifetime.

Just like my Grandma.
