Meet Beverly — “I Don’t Have to Worry Anymore.”
Each month, we bring you real stories of people pre-planning their own funeral arrangements. This month, meet Beverly.
What’s your reason for starting your plan? For Beverly, she didn’t want to be a burden to her family.
Beverly lives in Fresno, California, but is originally from Belize. She knew she needed to start planning, but didn’t realize how easy it could be until she sat down with our trusted funeral home partner in her area.
She sees planning a funeral as someone’s duty before they pass away. “I believe it’s the responsibility of that person. (When you) reach a certain age, there is a responsibility that you have to handle your own business and it shouldn’t be someone else’s burden. It’s something that should be done.”
We hear that a lot. “I don’t want to be a burden.” Sometimes, that means being a financial burden. Picture a family with unpaid funeral home bills, facing inflated costs, taking on unanticipated debt.
But there is also a fear of the stress left for the living when someone dies. What kind of funeral would she want? Where are all of these documents? Why do I have to do all this planning when all I can do is grieve?
Beverly knew that she did not want to be a burden to her family, especially her daughter. And now Beverly knows she won’t be.
“Things are taken care of. Something is crossed off my bucket list that I’m concerned about. I don’t have to worry anymore.”
We invite you to watch Beverly’s story of pre-planning her own funeral with one of our trusted partners. Afterward, take a look at one of our free guides or schedule a no-obligation consultation with an advance funeral planner in your neighborhood.
